ELIZA - Major (Single)

Alt R&B singer songwriter and producer ELIZA returns with ‘Major’, a gently powerful new single about dissolving armour, ditching the drama and remembering your worth. Released ahead of Valentine’s Day, the track offers a quiet antidote to the noise and pressure of the hyper commercialised holiday, turning inward instead towards softness, self love and acceptance.

Written from a place of deep compassion for a friend, ‘Major’ softly urges a way out of self sabotage and into clarity. Over a meditative beat, ELIZA’s mesmerising vocals float alongside the warm tones of the bansuri Indian flute, performed by Hindustani musician Hasheel. The result is grounding, intimate and quietly affirming, a reminder that you are already “major” without the world’s validation.

The single is the latest preview from ELIZA’s forthcoming third album, The Darkening Green, out 4 March. Described as her most fiercely human record to date, the album expands her earthy R&B sound while exploring the idea that our emotional and ecological worlds mirror one another. Themes of re-wilding, softness, connection and resistance to grind culture run throughout, tracing what happens when we drift from ourselves and how we might find our way home again.

Following recent singles ‘Anyone Else’ and ‘Cheddar’, which earned support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, CLASH and Rolling Stone UK, ‘Major’ continues to set the tone for an album that feels timely, tender and quietly radical.
