An Afternoon of Dilla Returns to Bristol for a Celebration of Hip Hop Culture.
Bristol is set to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of legendary producer J Dilla as An Afternoon of Dilla returns to BIMM Institute Bristol on Saturday 21 November 2026.
Curated by Bristol based producer Vice beats, in collaboration with Ma Dukes and the James Dewitt Yancey Foundation, the event brings together live performances, DJ sets and creative activities, celebrating the influence of one of hip hop's most important innovators while raising funds for the Foundation.
Since launching in 2023, An Afternoon of Dilla has grown into an international celebration, with events taking place across Bristol, London, Manchester and the Netherlands. This year's Bristol gathering features Lady Paradox, Boyce, Unity, DJ Jaffa, Charlotte's Records, Iam13e, Beat Cleaver and Cypher Space, alongside an interactive contribution from Cosies Game Night.
Marking 20 years since Dilla's passing, the event is about more than paying tribute to his groundbreaking production. It celebrates the community, collaboration and creativity that continue to define hip hop culture. With support from local businesses including Minirig, Out of Hand and Peggy's Café, alongside Wordplay Magazine as official media partner, the afternoon promises to bring Bristol's vibrant creative scene together for a fitting celebration of Dilla's timeless influence.
