SKIP-DAWG - Lyrical Playboy (Single)

After nearly a decade away from music, Pennsylvania rapper SKIP-DAWG makes a triumphant return with his latest single, ‘Lyrical Playboy’, a slick fusion of hip hop, R&B and alternative rock that explores the contrast between his everyday personality and the confident, charismatic alter ego he embraces behind the mic.

Built around introspective verses, smooth mid-tempo production and an infectious R&B hook, the track showcases an artist rediscovering his creative freedom after an extraordinary personal battle. Having previously released five albums, SKIP-DAWG was forced to step away from music following a life threatening lung condition that saw him endure more than 20 collapsed lungs and eight major surgeries, leaving him with lasting nerve damage and chronic pain.

“‘Lyrical Playboy’ is really about the two sides of me,” he explains. “There’s the regular person I am in everyday life, and then there’s SKIP-DAWG, a more confident and expressive version of myself that comes out through the music.”

Beyond his musical comeback, SKIP-DAWG is determined to use his platform to raise awareness of recurrent collapsed lungs and the devastating physical and emotional impact they can have. Through his Collapsed Lung Project, he hopes to give a voice to others experiencing similar struggles while shining a light on a condition that rarely receives widespread attention.

With previous music placements across NBC, the NFL and Grand Theft Auto, SKIP-DAWG is no stranger to making an impact. However, ‘Lyrical Playboy’ represents something far more personal. It's a statement of resilience, renewed confidence and an artist reclaiming his passion against remarkable odds.
