Mac Lloyd Announces Debut Album Hold Fast, A Raw, Genre Blending Journey.

Multifaceted artist and producer Mac Lloyd releases his long awaited debut album Hold Fast today (21 November 2025) via Soul Jam Audio Recordings.

Drawing on Blues, Neo Soul and Americana, the record offers a textured, introspective dive into subjects such as addiction, depression, fatherhood and personal redemption. Lloyd’s gritty baritone sits front and centre, gliding over sliding guitar lines and smoky, sultry backdrops. It’s a project unafraid to bend genres, showcasing his growing prowess as a writer, multi instrumentalist and producer. Though rooted in familiar musical traditions, Hold Fast feels strikingly modern thanks to Lloyd’s instinctive, cross cultural splicing of styles.

Speaking about the album, Lloyd explains that Hold Fast reflects his evolution both personally and creatively. The title comes from the McLeod family motto, a reminder to persist through hardship. “Since becoming Mac Lloyd I’ve faced many changes and challenges,” he says, citing addiction, loss, homelessness and the transformative experiences of partnership and fatherhood. “Throughout all of this I continued to create and release music… the album centres around mental health and how significant events can shape us or break us.”

Lloyd has spent the past few years carving out a reputation as a versatile, collaborative force, working with Jman, Res One, Joe Burn and others, while building a distinctive solo catalogue. His work has earned praise from The Wire, Wordplay Magazine, BBC 6 Music’s Huey Morgan, BBC Radio 1’s Jaguar, BBC Introducing and even Public Enemy’s Chuck D. His 2024 collaborative EP Hindsight Hotel with Res One surpassed one million Spotify streams, further cementing his upward trajectory.
