Devon born, London based singer songwriter Saskia has announced her forthcoming EP, Wearing All White Like An Angel, set for release on October 9th via Black Butter Records, alongside atmospheric new single ‘saysomething (bite)’.
Built around Saskia’s haunting vocals and a blend of ethereal electronic soul and leftfield R&B, the new project explores personal change, growing older and the uneasy feeling of trying to find your place in an ever shifting world. New single ‘saysomething (bite)’ captures that uncertainty particularly vividly, emerging from a period when Saskia felt increasingly hopeless about the world around her.
“I think, in a way, I wrote the song to myself,” she explains. “A reminder to keep going, to keep pressing forward even when you can’t see where you’re headed.”
The single follows recent releases ‘sickofmyself’, which paired introspective songwriting with R&B and liquid drum ’n’ bass, and the brooding ‘If I’m Alive’. Together, they offer a glimpse into the darker, textural world of Wearing All White Like An Angel.
Describing herself as “a happy girl making sad music,” Saskia draws influence from the likes of James Blake, Radiohead, Sampha, Yebba and Massive Attack. Following support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music for debut EP The Noise, as well as her vocals being sampled on Don Toliver’s ‘Secondhand’, her forthcoming EP marks her latest chapter as one of Black Butter Records’ newest signings.
‘saysomething (bite)’ is out now, with Wearing All White Like An Angel arriving October 9th.
