London based alt soul artist Levina returns with new single ‘Wrong’, out 21 August, offering the final glimpse of her forthcoming album Invincible Summer, arriving 4 September.
A gentle reflection on presence, perspective and contentment, ‘Wrong’ questions the constant pressure to become happier or more complete, instead considering whether what we are searching for might already be around us. Co produced with Steven Bamidele, the track incorporates birdsong recorded in Levina’s garden and Brighton beach stones within its percussion, bringing the natural world directly into its intimate soundscape.
“This song came from a moment of noticing the beauty already around me and wondering whether I’d been looking at my life through misguided eyes,” Levina explains. “Maybe nothing was wrong. Maybe I was already there.”
The single sets the stage for Invincible Summer, a ten track album tracing Levina’s journey from disconnection towards healing, self trust and reconnection. Written largely at her upright piano, the record blends alternative soul, folk and jazz with warm live instrumentation, featuring collaborators including Rosetta Carr on bass and Romarna Campbell on drums. Inspired by Albert Camus’ famous idea of finding an “invincible summer” within, the project embraces spontaneity and imperfection while exploring what it means to feel genuinely present and connected.
Following previous singles ‘Back In My Body’, ‘Spectacular Society’, ‘You Know Everything’ and ‘Rush Hour’, Invincible Summer arrives on 4 September, with ‘Wrong’ out 21 August.
