MAIH - Rivers (Single)

Norwegian alt pop artist MAIH steps into a new chapter with ‘Rivers’, a raw and cinematic single centred on the painful realisation that wanting someone to be right for you does not necessarily make them so.

Built around melancholic songwriting, vulnerable vocals and dark, atmospheric production, ‘Rivers’ explores the exhaustion of giving everything to someone who offers just enough in return to keep you holding on. Glitchy synths, distorted drums and soaring pop melodies frame a track made for late night drives and rainy evenings, turning heartbreak, anger and longing into a moment of release and ultimately, letting go.

“It captures the cinematic, coming of age moment when everything suddenly clicks and you realise that wanting someone to be good for you doesn’t make them good for you,” explains MAIH. “It’s a song for feeling it all without shame, the heartbreak, the longing, the anger, and ultimately, the freedom of letting go.”

Music has been part of MAIH’s life from an early age, with the Norwegian singer songwriter first discovering her own voice through writing songs as a teenager. After studying at LIMPI, where she worked alongside writers and producers including Emily Warren and Stargate, she released her debut EP For All of The Times I Broke My Own Heart in 2024, earning support from Spotify’s Fresh Finds and EQUAL programmes as well as national radio.

Following an Artist of the Year nomination at Luttprisen in 2025 and her first headline show in Oslo, MAIH has spent the past year working with Norwegian producer Brage André Abrahamsen on a new project. ‘Rivers’ offers the latest glimpse into that next era, further establishing her deeply personal blend of melancholic alt pop and confessional storytelling.
