God Knows x Godwin - Heihachi Riddim (Official Video)

God Knows and producer Godwin combine forces for ‘Heihachi Riddim’, a grimey, Tekken inspired release landing on August 14th via 4TheHeadsThatKnow and Narolane.

Built around Godwin’s rugged production and God Knows’ unpredictable flows, the project channels the energy of the iconic fighting game while tapping into the pair’s shared love of making music for the pure enjoyment of it. Having previously worked together on God Knows’ A Future of the Past album and 2022 EP We Move the Needle, ‘Heihachi Riddim’ marks the first time the two have taken joint billing.

The title track began life as a DJ tool before Godwin realised God Knows would be the perfect voice for it. Taking inspiration from D Double E’s ‘Street Fighter Riddim’, the pair switched their attention to Tekken, with God Knows weaving characters including Heihachi, Kazuya, Anna and Yoshimitsu into his bars.

Speaking on the collaboration, God Knows says the music came from a desire to rediscover the “fun, exploration, discovery and childlike wonder” that first attracted the pair to creating. Godwin describes the process as equally organic, with the track eventually recorded at Dry Lane Studios in a session lasting less than an hour.

The release brings together two important figures within Ireland’s increasingly adventurous hip hop landscape. God Knows has long been at the forefront of the scene, both as a solo artist and as part of Choice Music Prize winners Rusangano Family, while Clare raised, Limerick based Godwin continues to build a reputation for forward thinking production spanning hip hop, R&B, jungle, trap and beyond.
