Nashville based singer songwriter Nanseera returns with ‘Poison Rain’, a haunting new gothic folk single that transforms political frustration into something both intimate and deeply affecting. Released on 24th July, the track was inspired by the US Supreme Court's decision to weaken the Voting Rights Act, pairing stark social commentary with rich acoustic instrumentation that blends guitar, dobro, banjo, upright bass and drums into her distinctive "back porch gothic" sound.

Born in London and raised across Uganda, Ethiopia and the United States, Nanseera draws on her global upbringing to deliver thoughtful songwriting with real emotional weight. Written in a single sitting after weeks of searching for the right words, Poison Rain balances its apocalyptic atmosphere with a sense of hope, while highlighting the importance of protecting civil rights. Speaking on the track, Nanseera explains: "Poison Rain was written in response to the US Supreme Court's recent decision to significantly weaken the Voting Rights Act... Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg said throwing out anti-discrimination laws that are working is like 'throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you are not getting wet.'"

The single arrives ahead of a second release and a full length album later this year, with Nanseera also set to take the songs on the road with a string of East Coast US dates before heading to the West Coast in October.
