Dani Offline - weary soul (Official Video)
Fresh from opening for Louis Cole and playing her debut Los Angeles headline show at The Virgil, Dani Offline returns with her latest single, 'weary soul', accompanied by a beautifully shot music video on 16mm film.
Produced alongside longtime collaborator Vooo, the track blends warm '70s inspired soul with jazz inflected harmony and analogue textures, creating a rich backdrop for Dani's introspective songwriting. Inspired by an essay she wrote exploring weariness in Black music, 'weary soul' reflects on loneliness, longing, and the search for genuine connection, building towards a dreamy, psychedelic finale of tape recorded harmonies and Rhodes keys.
The accompanying visual cleverly mirrors the song's themes, placing Dani in traditionally shared activities, pool, chess and card games, but entirely on her own, reinforcing its sense of emotional isolation.
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Dani Offline is a songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist whose vintage inspired sound has earned praise from artists including SZA, Questlove and Jill Scott. Balancing her music career with a PhD in Comparative Literature, she continues to carve out a distinctive space where thoughtful storytelling, analogue production and soulful songwriting meet. With 'weary soul', Dani further cements herself as one of the most compelling new voices in modern soul.
