Iris Gold - Sugar On My Lips (Album)
Iris Gold Shares New Album Sugar On My Lips.
British Danish artist Iris Gold has released her third album, Sugar On My Lips, via GL Music Entertainment A/S. The 12 track project finds the London born, Copenhagen raised singer leaning further into vulnerability, warmth and emotional range.
A standout moment is the title track, co written and produced by Dave Stewart. The pair wrote the song during a spontaneous session in the Bahamas, resulting in a warm and intimate track that captures longing without losing strength. Stewart, who also produced Gold’s 2022 album Woman, once compared meeting the artist to the first time he encountered Tina Turner, praising her resilience and creative spirit.
Gold describes the album as a healing process and a celebration of life, shaped by the question of what kind of music she would have wanted to hear during difficult moments.
Across the record she explores different sides of her artistry. The psychedelic soul pop track “Smile” celebrates resilience, while “Build It Up”, inspired by Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, forms part of a campaign with PlanBørnefonden in Denmark. Elsewhere “Showgirl” leans into confidence and hip hop bravado, while “Pride Like Porcelain” reflects on family, shame and unspoken tensions.
Born in London to Indian and Jamaican heritage and raised around Copenhagen’s Christiania community, Iris Gold has built a reputation for blending genres with deeply personal storytelling. With Sugar On My Lips, she delivers her most emotionally open work to date.
