(PREMIERE) Tibo Step x Hana Amaya - Shadows (EP)
Tibo Step and Hana Amaya explore nostalgia and vulnerability on debut EP Shadows.
London based artists Tibo Step and Hana Amaya have unveiled their first collaborative EP, Shadows, a soulful alternative project that blends the warmth of 90s soundscapes with modern alternative R&B textures. Built around organic drums, dreamy vocals and atmospheric production, the EP moves through an intimate and reflective sonic space.
The collaboration began organically in London after the pair met at local jam sessions. What started as a friendship quickly evolved into a creative partnership and by March 2025 they were writing music together. Over the following months they developed a shared musical language that ultimately led to Shadows, a project shaped by both artists’ influences and a balance of nostalgia and forward thinking sound.
Tibo Step handles the EP’s composition, production, mixing and mastering and also features vocally on the opening track, “Escape.” Hana Amaya leads the project as its main voice, bringing her distinctive tone across the EP while also contributing to the songwriting and composition.
Both artists have already begun carving out a presence on the international live circuit, performing at events including the Queer Jazz Festival and the London Jazz Festival. Tracks from Shadows, including “Escape” and “Stranger In My Room,” have also appeared on Spotify playlists curated by Brownswood Recordings, the influential label founded by Gilles Peterson. The duo were also selected for the Future Bubblers compilation, a programme supporting emerging artists across the UK.
The EP’s visual identity comes from Japan based artist Yushi Arimura, whose artwork mirrors the project’s introspective and atmospheric tone.
With Shadows, Tibo Step and Hana Amaya introduce a collaboration rooted in friendship, experimentation and a shared love for soulful, textured music. It marks the beginning of a promising artistic partnership and invites listeners into a soundscape where vulnerability and atmosphere meet.
