Tiaryn’s More Than Skin Marks a Confident New Chapter.

Tiaryn has always carried a rare duality in her voice, shifting effortlessly from ethereal softness to commanding strength. On her new single More Than Skin, that range is distilled into something focused, intimate and striking.

Written from the piano, the track is built on sophisticated harmonies and layered with percussion, vibraphone, pedal steel, guitar and bass. The melodic pull nods to alternative artists like Mitski and Emily King, while Tiaryn’s jazz-informed songwriting keeps it grounded in emotional nuance. Her clear, soaring vocal sits at the centre, steady and self-assured.

Released independently on Friday 27 February, More Than Skin reflects on the cost of keeping an open heart with people who cannot hold it, and the wisdom that comes from learning when to protect your softness. Off centre textures, including analogue synth, add subtle tension, balanced by a playful rhythm section that gives the song momentum without overpowering its vulnerability.

A self described church girl turned rebel, Tiaryn relocated from Perth to Melbourne to grow without expectation. Recording in a converted church in regional Victoria felt like a quiet full circle moment, reclaiming space while stepping into a new phase of artistry.

Since the move, she has built a reputation as a magnetic live performer, touring nationally and internationally and earning a sold out Melbourne Jazz Festival show with her trio in 2024. With a City of Melbourne grant supporting her 2026 album launch, this single feels like a confident signal of what is to come: vibrant, raw and entirely her own.
