Jnbo - Dogs (Single)

Jnbo is the solo moniker of Melbourne and Naarm composer, producer and bass player Henry Jenkins, a familiar name behind the boards for much of the city’s modern instrumental soul scene. Known for shaping the sound of acts like Surprise Chef and Karate Boogaloo, Jenkins now turns that finely tuned sensibility inward.

& Friends (out April 3rd) is a tightly focused statement. Twelve instrumental pieces glide between cinematic romance and low slung funk. The grooves are warm and unhurried, but there is a restless curiosity beneath them, with guitars slipping sideways, harmony stretching wide and rhythm sections locked deep in the pocket.

Built around a self imposed constraint, the same players and the same eight instruments across the entire record, the album thrives on nuance and variation. Recorded with a close circle of long time collaborators, & Friends feels intimate without ever shrinking, moving fluidly from head nodding funk to widescreen ambience. It is a record about trust, texture and letting small details do the talking.
