Indonesian born, London based singer songwriter Naya Yeira delivers an intimate and beautifully introspective introduction to her world with debut EP Almost There, arriving on 30th October. Across six tracks, the project explores the uncertainty of navigating your twenties, confronting destructive patterns and learning to embrace change, all wrapped in a captivating blend of alternative R&B, soulful melodies and atmospheric production.

There is a wonderfully understated quality to Almost There, with Naya's delicate yet expressive vocals, stripped back instrumentation and subtle electronic textures creating a dreamlike atmosphere. Executive produced by Sean Hamilton, alongside contributions from JusAnt, Sam Posenor and Superbeats, the project follows a deeply personal journey through vulnerability, self-awareness and ultimately empowerment.

Opening track ‘twenty9’ sets the tone with an introspective exploration of toxic cycles and the difficult realisation that change must begin with yourself. It's a fitting introduction to the EP's central themes, before ‘raffle ticket’ takes things in a more romantic direction, comparing the pursuit of love to chasing an impossible win. Its soulful character and smooth alternative R&B sensibilities make it an early highlight, balancing emotional vulnerability with an infectious musicality.

‘letter’ continues the introspection, capturing that familiar feeling of being caught between the person you once were and the person you're trying to become. There's a real sense of emotional uncertainty running through the track, something that carries into ‘spiders’, which examines the uncomfortable tendency to remain in situations we know are damaging simply because they feel familiar. Together, the two songs reinforce the project's central message about recognising patterns before finding the strength to escape them.

A shift in perspective arrives with ‘i might hit record’, a smooth, infectious alternative R&B offering centred on reclaiming creative control and rediscovering confidence. It provides a welcome sense of determination following the more emotionally conflicted moments earlier in the project. Closing track ‘do my dance’ then brings everything together, with Naya embracing independence, self-worth and the freedom that comes with choosing herself. Rather than offering a perfectly resolved ending, it feels like the beginning of another chapter, which is precisely what makes it such an appropriate finale.

What makes Almost There particularly compelling is its refusal to romanticise personal growth. Naya understands that progress is rarely straightforward, and her ability to translate those experiences into relatable songwriting gives the EP its emotional weight. The combination of soulful vocals, cinematic production and understated electronic influences creates a cohesive listening experience that feels both intimate and quietly assured.

Having already attracted support from Timbaland, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Introducing, Naya Yeira is steadily establishing herself as an exciting emerging voice within alternative R&B.

Almost There is a thoughtful, emotionally engaging debut that introduces an artist with a distinctive creative vision. Moving effortlessly between uncertainty, vulnerability and empowerment, Naya has created a project that feels refreshingly human. It's a reminder that finding yourself isn't always about reaching a destination, but learning to appreciate the journey along the way.
