London based artist Paris Rabone steps into the spotlight with Marrow, a debut that quietly lingers. Self produced and steeped in soul, jazz and alternative R&B, the track balances warmth with vulnerability, tracing the emotional terrain between growth, grief and self acceptance. Written during a period of personal transition, Marrow captures that private moment when an avoided truth finally surfaces, “a realisation that hits deeper than the surface,” as Paris puts it.
Soft chords and layered harmonies are gently unsettled by bursts of jazz saxophone, creating a sound that feels fragile yet resilient. It is introspective music for anyone learning to sit with change and emotion rather than rush past it. Since its release on January 9th, the response has been immediate, with direct support from Erykah Badu, alongside early press attention from tastemakers including The Line Of Best Fit and Cold Magazine.
Mentored by Badu, whom he opened for at the Royal Festival Hall in 2022, Paris has already been tipped as a distinctive new UK voice, with early radio spins from BBC Radio 6 Music via Gilles Peterson and Lauren Laverne. Drawing inspiration from Solange, Sun Ra and Alice Coltrane, Marrow feels like a first chapter, understated, deeply human, and the beginning of a wider sonic and visual world that is only just opening up.
