Ego Ella May returns with new single “What We Do”.

British-Nigerian singer-songwriter Ego Ella May has unveiled What We Do, the first glimpse of her forthcoming second album, due early 2026. The track, co-produced with South London artist Wu-Lu, is a sun-drenched groove that balances soulfulness with a carefree, feel-good energy.

Written at Real World Studios in Bath, the song captures the anticipation of reuniting with a loved one. “It’s such a groovy, fun song,” Ego explains, “and I don’t usually write those, so I wanted the subject to be light and reflect that feeling.”

Best known for blending R&B, neo-soul and jazz, Ego Ella May made waves with her acclaimed 2020 debut Honey For Wounds, recently reissued as a special five-year anniversary edition. Since then, she has sold out Ronnie Scott’s, graced the Montreal Jazz Festival, and received a MOBO nomination for Best Jazz Act.

With “What We Do”, Ego opens a fresh chapter—one that promises freedom, joy and summer-soaked rhythm.
