Planet Giza - The Fall (Single)
Planet Giza return with new single ‘The Fall’.
As summer fades, Montreal trio Planet Giza have dropped ‘The Fall’, the first single from the closing chapter of their EP trilogy The Sky Is Recording Me: 100 Years Later, Vol. 3, due out at the end of October via Quiet Note.
Blending rap, jazz and soulful instrumentation, the track is a meditation on resilience. While most would urge shutting out inner doubts, lyricist Tony Stone takes a different path – leaning into ancestral voices for guidance, even when the journey feels weighty. With smooth, layered production from Rami B and DoomX, the song builds steadily until saxophone lines weave into Tony’s verses, mirroring both tension and release.
“The Fall is a song about resilience,” the group explain. “It’s motivation to keep going, but also a reminder not to repeat the mistakes of the past. That’s why it felt right as the opening single for Volume 3 – it sets the tone for the intensity and growth we wanted to capture.”
Across nearly a decade, Planet Giza have carved out a reputation for melding hip-hop, jazz, R&B and electronic textures, collaborating with the likes of Mick Jenkins, Lou Phelps, Kojey Radical and Venna. Their discography spans cult favourite projects such as Added Sugar and Don’t Throw Rocks At The Moon, to last year’s Ready When You Are, which featured both North American and UK collaborators.
With The Sky Is Recording Me trilogy, the group embraced the challenge of releasing in instalments – each volume standing alone yet forming a larger narrative arc. Now, as they prepare to close this chapter, ‘The Fall’ feels like both a statement of intent and a glimpse of what’s to come.
