Cornwall-based rapper Mogal has teamed up with Nigerian-born producer/DJ Teck Zilla for Away With Words, a 7-track lofi/hip-hop project that does exactly what its title suggests – celebrates the power of rhymes and wordplay.

The two first connected at live shows in Falmouth, swapping ideas that would eventually grow into this collaboration. From the moody opener, Mogal sets the tone before diving into the playful, summer-soaked bounce of “SNOOP”. On “CLICK CLACK”, his rhymes bristle with bravado, while tracks like “HEAD HOME” and “MAN MADE MOUNTAINS” show a more reflective side. By the time we reach “RUSSIAN DOLL”, Mogal is in full command of intricate rhyme schemes and clever turns of phrase.

Teck Zilla’s production shifts gear with every track – dusty lofi textures rub shoulders with soulful samples and cinematic flourishes. It’s a sound that feels both retro and forward-thinking, giving Mogal the perfect canvas for his bars.

Both artists are members of Cornwall’s hip-hop collective Dys Fam, alongside names like Kid Brasi, Sispex, Enlxsh, WolfBeats, Ratty Jack, and Brews Willis – a crew steadily pushing the local scene forward.
