Elle Murphy Returns with Empowering New Single Clearer.

Rising Australian pop talent Elle Murphy is back with her brand-new single Clearer — a sultry yet empowering track that blends heartfelt vocals with smooth R&B undertones and her signature pop flair.

Written alongside Ethan Reginato and Olivia Dennis, Clearer reflects on Murphy’s journey towards self-love, acceptance and healing. Speaking about the track, she shares: “This song really wraps up my last year’s journey to self-love and all things acceptance and healing. I realised my old ways of coping weren’t working, and that tough love isn’t sustainable. This song was born out of that shift.”

With its lush production and relatable lyrics, Clearer continues Murphy’s run of emotionally-charged pop releases. The Melbourne-based artist has already made waves on Spotify editorial playlists such as New Music Friday and Pop n Fresh, while also earning viral moments on TikTok and national support from Triple J.

Her previous single Beautiful Sensitive Boy racked up over a million views on TikTok, leading to a sold-out hometown show and brand partnerships with Nike and Footlocker. Now boasting over 400k monthly listeners, Murphy is cementing herself as one of Australia’s most exciting new voices.

Clearer is available to stream now.

Elle Murphy sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

My older brother has always been musically talented and clever at whatever he picked up and I wanted to be like him but singing was the one thing I could do well and felt easy. So I've always leant right into it and have just always had music and singing as the goal, there was never really anything else.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

KAYTRANADA is the absolute dream collab/producer. I would die happy. For years I've always loved Anderson .Paak, NAO, Olivia Dean and Cleo Sol and use them as references in the studio all the time.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I recently went back to my second home, London, to write and record my debut EP. Will be releasing it early 2026 and I couldn't be more excited!

4. How would you describe your sound?

I would say yearning and funky with some vintage elements.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

It's hard to pick one, there are many. I'd say my proudest moments are the behind the scenes wins of things I never thought I'd get rather than the streams or virality. Like getting to be on labels writing camps, or winning a grant or signing deals. I think anytime I get to tick things off the dream goal list I feel really proud that I got myself there.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Don't play the comparison game, just keep your head down and remember why you're doing it. Enjoy making your art.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

I'm a bit of a Maina Doe fan, I think what she's doing right now is really cool. I love the world she's created for herself.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Leon Thomas's MUTT: Deluxe has some amazing tracks that have really made me feel something for the first time in a while. And of course the new Olivia Dean album- she can do no wrong.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I love running and swimming. I'm the cardio queen- I'm not the best or fastest but it really has been my savior many times.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

We love a green or peppermint tea- I'm an addict, if I can have a blanket of some sort- it could be 30 degrees and I'll still want one, and a notebook- I love to see lyrics handwritten and all messy come to life, it helps me see the shape of the song.
