FloFilz Releases Hagaki – A Musical Love Letter to Japan.

Producer and jazz beatmaker FloFilz has released Hagaki, the fourth instalment in his ongoing album series with Melting Pot Music and photographer Robert Winter. Each album in the series serves as a sonic and visual postcard from a city that inspires him—after Paris, Lisbon, and London, this time the journey led to Tokyo.

Recorded between Berlin and Tokyo, Hagaki draws on FloFilz’s deep connection with Japan, blending jazz, beats, and Japanese influences into a warm, detailed soundscape. Along the way, he collaborated with a host of musicians and producers, including trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, vocalist Nao Yoshioka, guitarist Toshiki Soejima, and beatmakers Budamunk and Matt Wilde.

The project is as much about visuals as it is about sound. Robert Winter’s photography captures the atmosphere of Tokyo’s record shops, jazz clubs, ramen bars, and temples, presented in a 20-page photo book and a Riso-printed magazine that accompany the album. A special LP edition featuring a handcrafted Washi paper cover sold out in under 12 hours, testament to the care and craft behind the release.

For FloFilz, Hagaki is more than an album—it’s a heartfelt dialogue with Japanese culture, rooted in his experiences of playing shows, exploring cities, hiking landscapes, and immersing himself in the country’s unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Hagaki is out now on vinyl and digital platforms.
