Atmosphere Announce New Album Jestures, Out September 19.
Atmosphere — the legendary hip-hop duo of Slug & Ant — are back with Jestures, dropping September 19 via Rhymesayers Entertainment. Alongside the announcement, they’ve released two new singles: “Velour” and “Really,” the latter paired with a Melby-directed video that’s part John Wick, part Jackass, and fully unhinged.
True to its name, Jestures is playful but ambitious. The album spans 26 songs arranged A–Z, with guests like Evidence (“Effortless”), Kurious (“Kilowatts”), and a powerhouse lineup on “Mash” featuring Musab, Muja Messiah, and Mike the Martyr.
“We were having fun,” says Slug. “We didn’t want to stop.” Ant agrees: “I was able to throw the kitchen sink at it—seriously every kind of style I wanted.”
While it’s their fifth release of the 2020s, Jestures still finds fresh ground. Slug reflects on life’s cycles (“Don’t mistake my circle as the shape of repetition”) while Ant builds a soundscape ranging from cowboy twang to electro chaos. It’s about embracing the passing of time—not being stuck in it.
