Mac Lloyd - Over The Mill (Official Video)

Multifaceted artist and producer Mac Lloyd returns with the release of his refreshing new single Over The Mill, out 14th August 2025 via Soul Jam Audio Recordings. This is the first single take from Mac’s highly anticipated debut album, due for release later this year.

Known for his ability to seamlessly combine elements of soul, indie and hip-hop into one smooth, cohesive package, Over The Mill is no exception. This time, piecing together classic Boom-Bap production with a dystopian Blues and Americana-fused feel, Mac Lloyd once again defies genre and embraces his eclecticism through emotive lyrics and sultry sliding guitar riffs. Over The Mill is a track about depression, temptation and addiction rearing its ugly head after a long bout of living on the straight and narrow. “The single is also about corrupt governments and leaders who are stripping away living standards in favour of the rich and how the whole system needs to be overhauled and refined so that more regular working class people don't fall into further poverty like we've seen over the last few years,” Mac elaborates.

Having released a wide variety of projects over recent years, Mac Lloyd has cemented himself as a multi-faceted artist that has collaborated with of Jman (Babylon Dead, Kaotik Kartel), Res One (Split Prophets, Dutch Mob), Joe Burn, and many more, whilst simultaneously releasing a distinctive set of solo releases. Mac has previously received praise from the likes of The Wire, Wordplay Magazine, BBC 6Music’s Huey Morgan, BBC Radio 1’s DJ Jaguar and BBC Introducing, as well as Chuck D + DJ Shorty on Public Enemy’s AndYouDontStop radio show amongst others. In 2024, Mac also found himself producing and releasing a highly praised experimental rap EP in collaboration with Green Brick Records’ honcho Res One entitled Hindsight Hotel, amassing over 1 million streams on Spotify and counting.

With a large variety of high quality tracks in his back catalogue and a fan base that continues to grow and spread throughout the world, it’s impossible to deny that the future is looking bright for Mac Lloyd and his signature Melancholic Soul sound waves.
