Gabriel Gosse - MOJO (Album)
Gabriel Gosse releases debut album MOJO.
French guitarist and vocalist Gabriel Gosse has unveiled his eagerly anticipated debut album MOJO, a project that blends contemporary flair with deep jazz tradition.
The record features an eclectic line-up of guests, including songwriter and actor Philippe Katerine (with whom Gosse is currently touring), saxophonist Emile Parisien, rapper Georgio, and Cameroonian vocalist Ann Shirley. Together, they help bring Gosse’s vision to life – a collection of vivid, genre-shifting compositions that balance introspection with bursts of elegant intensity.
Highlights include the intricate and technically dazzling focus track “Mystic Kora”, the cinematic opener “MOJO (Intro)”, and the shimmering, synth-driven “Oracle”. Elsewhere, “Floater” (ft. Ann Shirley) nods to BADBADNOTGOOD with warped drum patterns and sharp guitar licks, while “Miroirs” (ft. Philippe Katerine) pairs catchy melodies with a surreal video already drawing strong attention online. From the melancholy of “Breeze” (ft. Emile Parisien) to the funk-tinged swagger of the title track, the album refuses to sit neatly in one genre, showcasing Gosse’s inventive range.
Born in Rouen, Normandy, Gosse honed his craft through formal training at the Paris Conservatoire, later working alongside leading figures in French jazz. His career to date has spanned everything from indie-pop to electro-swing, with collaborations and live performances across major European festivals and venues – including a slot opening for Marcus Miller at Archeo Jazz.
To mark the release, Gosse will headline a special launch show at La Boule Noire, Paris on 3rd November.
MOJO is out now – a bold debut from a guitarist redefining what modern jazz can sound like.
