Tiwa Savage - This One Is Personal (Album)
Tiwa Savage bares it all on This One Is Personal.
Tiwa Savage has unveiled her fifth studio album, This One Is Personal – a 15-track body of work written over two years between Nashville, London and San Francisco. True to its title, the record finds the trailblazer artist at her most vulnerable, exploring love, heartbreak, resilience and self-reflection with unflinching honesty.
“This album is for me,” Tiwa says. “I’ve done what people and labels wanted for so long – this time I wanted to tell my own story.”
The project opens with I’m Done, a stripped-back piano ballad recorded in San Francisco that moved Tiwa to tears mid-session. From there, she shifts between sultry genre-bending moments like Angel Dust, the Skepta-assisted On The Low, and You 4 Me – a nostalgic reimagining of Tamia’s So Into You. Her long-time collaborator Mystro oversees production, while influences from Brandy and 90s R&B run throughout.
Standout tracks include 10%, inspired by a late-night studio walkout, and Addicted, a playful duet with Taves. The album closes with Change, crafted alongside Tiwa’s old friend James Fauntleroy, bringing her journey full circle.
Already previewed with singles On The Low and You 4 Me, the album has received wide support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital Xtra and beyond. To mark release day, Tiwa celebrated with a sold-out free show at KOKO.
At 45, with over two decades in music and accolades spanning MOBO, EMA and Headies awards, Tiwa Savage remains a force in Afrobeats – a pioneer who continues to evolve while inspiring the next generation. Born in Lagos, raised in London, and seasoned in the US, she stands today as one of the genre’s most enduring and influential voices.
