Greentea Peng Steps Back Into the Light With Hypnotic New Single “Prisoners Round”.
Greentea Peng returns with “Prisoners Round”, a slow burning, dub tinged release crafted alongside longtime collaborator Declan Gaffney. It’s a track that captures the simmering pressure of modern life, that sense of being watched, nudged and worn down by the systems we move through every day.
Her vocals float between meditation and warning, tracing how collective strain seeps into our inner world. The production is beautifully sparse: low, sultry bass and minimal drums set a deep foundation, while echoes, strings and layered harmonies form a hazy, atmospheric swirl above. It’s intimate, resistant and unmistakably Greentea, spiritual reflection woven with social commentary.
The single follows the monochrome, countryside set video for “Green”, which breathed new energy into one of the standout moments from her latest album TELL DEM IT’S SUNNY. That record marked a major creative shift, moving further into introspection and emotional honesty. It has since earned album of the year praise from MOJO for its fearless blend of soul, dub and psychedelia.
After a headline EU and UK tour, festival highlights and a run supporting Little Simz on her arena dates, Greentea Peng closes out a defining year. With curiosity and conviction as her compass, she continues to carve out her own lane, one that feels increasingly essential within British music.
