Zuko Sian - Spill a Little Tea (Official Video)

Spill a Little Tea: Zuko Sian’s Haunting New Single and Visual.

Born in a tiny home studio in Bethnal Green, Spill a Little Tea grew out of late night chats, camomile tea in hand, long before the mic was switched on. The track blends jazz-tinged melodies with mellow hip hop production, wrapped around Zuko Sian’s signature “burgundy red” vocals, rich, textured and quietly fearless.

Written in just fifteen minutes after a fallout with a friend and fresh heartbreak, the song stands as a gentle but firm declaration of truth telling. “I’ve always believed in calling things out because I care, but not everyone wants honesty,” Zuko says. The hook, “You can say what you want about me, but all I ever did was spill a little tea”, captures that sentiment perfectly: courage over comfort, clarity over silence.

The accompanying video, directed by Jade Laurelle, transforms Paul Delaroche’s 1833 Execution of Lady Jane Grey into a modern meditation on betrayal and power. With cinematographer Bea da Gama, the team recreated the painting with obsessive detail, from period costumes to hand built sets. Zuko even crafted the executioner’s brooch at home; the chopping block itself is sculpted from foam. In a poetic twist, she wears a gown once worn by Helena Bonham Carter in the 1986 film Lady Jane, a full circle homage to women historically silenced.

“Delaroche wasn’t making feminist art as we understand it now,” Zuko notes, “but he captured a woman destroyed by male power. That story still echoes today, in laws, cultures, everyday life. Spill a Little Tea is my way of saying: we’re not being quiet anymore.”
