Bawo - I’m So (Single)
Bawo Returns With ‘I’m So’ A Happy Sad Anthem for Keeping It Moving.
Fresh off the heavier tones of October’s ‘In My Palm’, West London’s Bawo is back with a new single ‘I’m So’ released via his own Say Nothing Records. This one leans into his melodic side smooth, buoyant, and deceptively easygoing while carrying the emotional weight we’ve come to expect from him.
‘I’m So’ finds Bawo navigating heartbreak and global gloom with a calm, almost playful resilience. He packages vulnerability into something uplifting, dropping lines like “All eyes on me, it gets hot but the pressure makes diamonds, see”. The result is a proper “happy sad” tune: infectious beat, sticky hook, and a vibe that will loop in your head long after it ends.
Over the last few years, Bawo has carved out his own lane in UK rap. From early tracks like ‘No Sleep’, ‘Starts With A Text’ and ‘SKATE’, through his 2023 Legitimate Cause EP and 2024’s It Means Hope Where I’m From, he has shown a knack for vivid storytelling and immersive, left field production choices. His world building has become a signature, and the office worker turned superhero visuals were a standout moment in that journey.
He has also been steadily expanding his reach: BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra spins, love from The Guardian, CLASH, Wonderland and more, plus standout performances on COLORS and stages from Tokyo to Paris. This year alone he has hit Glastonbury and SXSW Sydney, continuing to fly the flag for London’s forward thinking rap scene.
With ‘I’m So’, Bawo steps into his next chapter sounding freer and more versatile than ever. Paired with ‘In My Palm’, it is clear he is leaning deeper into that balance of introspection and spontaneity music that feels weighty but moves with ease.
If this is the direction he is heading, the next wave of releases is going to be special.
