PS Hitsquad Returns With ‘Turtle’ A Post Drill Power Move.

PS Hitsquad is back, levelling up once again with ‘Turtle’, a new single crafted alongside super producer M1onthebeat (known for his work with Central Cee, Headie One and Digga D). The track pushes PS further into the emerging post drill lane he’s carving out, an evolution of the raw, high intensity sound that first made him a cult figure.

‘Turtle’ pairs dreamy, soulful synths with restless percussion and earth shaking 808s, giving M1’s production a surreal, almost cinematic edge. Over it, PS fires off razor sharp punchlines and chaotic street imagery at breakneck pace. It’s easily one of his most infectious drops to date and feels like a real statement of intent.

The accompanying video, once again directed by long time collaborator Billy Howard Price, dives even deeper into PS’ strange and striking visual world. After bringing us the warped universe of ‘123’, Price now leads viewers through a rural dystopia where riot police in tracksuits cross paths with rapping tortoises. The concept draws from the ancient Roman testudo (“turtle”) formation, soldiers advancing under interlocked shields. “Defence as attack,” Price explains, and the metaphor fits: PS is pushing forward with purpose, armour up.

Following the explosive momentum of ‘123’, this is PS’ second release with tastemaker label House Anxiety, joining a roster that has broken acts from MIKE and Bad Boy Chiller Crew to Courtney Barnett, King Krule and Royel Otis.

PS’ journey has never been overnight. From dropping tunes at 16 with Kwengface as founding members of Peckham’s Zone 2, one of the crews that helped define mid 2010s road rap, to navigating setbacks and rebuilding with solo standouts like ‘Guten Tag’, his reputation has only grown stronger.

Now, with his sound and visuals entering a bold new chapter, ‘Turtle’ feels like the start of something bigger. Talk of a full debut album is growing louder, and PS’ focus is sharper than ever. If this is the direction he’s heading, South London’s next major rap star may already be here.
