Planet Giza - The Sky Is Recording Me: 100 Years Later, Vol. 3 (EP)
Planet Giza Close Their Introspective EP Trilogy with The Sky Is Recording Me: 100 Years Later, Vol. 3.
Montreal’s genre blending trio Planet Giza draw their soul-searching EP series to a close with The Sky Is Recording Me: 100 Years Later, Vol. 3, an eight-track journey released via Quiet Note.
Built around intricate production from Rami B and DoomX, and Tony Stone’s sharp, heartfelt lyricism, the project captures the group’s signature mix of soulful introspection and groove heavy experimentation. From the reflective pull of The Fall to the trance like energy of Dance (For Your Life), each track pulls listeners deeper into Planet Giza’s kaleidoscopic sound world.
Standout cut Minding My Business explores the push and pull between independence and connection, while Lonely and Nobody Else strip things back to raw emotion, the latter featuring a stirring falsetto from Isaiah Falls. Closing track Worldly Concerns offers a fittingly contemplative finale, as Tony Stone reckons with life, legacy and purpose.
Speaking on the trilogy’s conclusion, the group describe Vol. 3 as “completion, introspection, growth, and above all, legacy.” They add: “We’ve never released music in this format before. Dropping multiple projects kept us visible, but working within shorter tracklists pushed our quality control to new heights.”
Since emerging nearly a decade ago, Planet Giza, known for fusing hip hop, jazz, R&B and electronic influences, have built a reputation for musical depth and innovation. From their acclaimed 2019 debut Added Sugar to 2023’s Ready When You Are, which featured the likes of Saba, Mick Jenkins, Kojey Radical and Venna, the trio continue to evolve while staying rooted in collaboration and authenticity.
With The Sky Is Recording Me: 100 Years Later, Vol. 3, Planet Giza sign off their trilogy on a high note, reflective, refined and brimming with heart.
