UK production duo Sons of Sonix (aka SoS) have just shared a striking studio-based visual for their latest Afro-RnB cut. ‘Motion Sickness’ features one of UK RnB’s most exciting talents Bellah. The British/Nigerian singer/songwriter is at the helm of an explosion in UK RnB across the globe, and has recently received two Mobo nominations and is currently one of Spotify’s R&B Rising Artist To Watch in 2024.
Having previously worked with Bellah on her tracks ‘Cause You Can’ and ‘Prototype’, the collaboration on ‘Motion Sickness’ seems effortless, as the pair craft a sumptuous afro-laced RnB soundscape, which coupled with Bellah's intimate vocals, create a powerful anthem for those on the path to authenticity and self-love. It serves as another glimpse of the pair’s upcoming solo project entitled Timezones and Tylenol, which pulls on their experiences living between LA, London and Lagos in recent years.
“‘Motion Sickness’ tells the story of someone who always prioritises others over themselves”, the duo says. “The lyrics explore the struggle of being a constant people pleaser and the toll it takes. As the song progresses, there's a powerful shift where the person decides to set boundaries, even if it means losing people. It's a journey of self-acceptance and acknowledging the sacrifices needed to become one's best self.”
Sons Of Sonix members, Mikey and Moses both hail from very musical Nigerian families, where the counter mix of creativity and discipline collide, have helped shape the pair’s outlook and drive. They both aligned even more deeply with their Nigerian roots after returning for the first time as adults in 2019, and they have since dedicated an increasing amount of time on the ground in Lagos, nurturing a new generation of talent, running studio camps and workshops, which have seen the likes of pre-superstar Tems attend.
