Chairman Maf – Pawn (Music Video)

Chairman Maf has been cooking up something fresh! The South Yorkshire beatmaker is back with a five track release Pawn, his ninth instrumental venture and it’s a cinematic banger! The balance of melancholic subject matter from the samples – think: apocalypse, austerity and sacrifices – and Maf’s signature uplifting, funk-infused beats makes for a mesmerising trip…

The animated music video for the title track Pawn dropped at the end of last week and it’s a hypnotising doozy – a brilliant addition to the narrative!

Whilst it’s currently available on Bandcamp, Maf is also crowdfunding a vinyl release of Pawn with some additional beats when you do back it. Including “Booze from Maf's 3rd album Soup, which mysteriously disappeared from its vinyl pressing, thought to be due in part to paranormal interference - although there have been suggestions from small pockets of the hip hop community that Maf was wasted when he sent it off and forgot to include the track. Perhaps a mystery best left unsolved.” which is fucking hilarious in itself but at least we get to hear it now, right?

The EP is dedicated to the late legend Ben "TY" Chijioke who left us earlier this year leaving a huge void in the scene. RIP.
