REVIEW: Jam Baxter - Touching Scenes

Touching Scenes, an album by Jam Baxter on Spotify

For a man who’s brought out a project every year for the last 10 years, Baxter’s flame never seems to diminish. From the Champion Fraff escapades of 2008 to the now of Touching Scenes in 2018, Jam Baxter is one of the most consistent rappers this side of the Atlantic!

Most artists try to rebrand themselves - Baxter just IS. He knows how to tell stories with an outlandish poetic tone. He's now a little older, with a few more stories to tell and a slightly better way to tell them. Yet, he's the same old Baxter we know and love, just nonchalantly adapting to the times. With a decade of music to live up to, his new album definitely delivers. The post production is as crisp as every other project High Focus that has dropped this year, and there’s been one every month - All bangers!

His slurred cadence soars over tracks like Vultures and Mask Ft. Rag n Bone Man & OG Roots (Formally Dirty Goodz.) The Touching Scenes skit was perfectly executed and the poetry on both Burma and Unsubscribe Ft. Kate Tempest is an amazing show of lyricism In rhythmically applied poetry. Make sure you catch him on his album tour in a town and city near you!
