BFG - Stroke Of Luck (EP) + 10 Questions
DJ BFG brings together some of the East Midlands’ finest emerging and established voices on his new album A Stroke of Luck on Ward 410, out now across all major streaming platforms.
Blending hip hop production with soulful textures and a strong collaborative spirit, the eight track project opens with ‘Cooking’, where Rukus rides BFG’s punchy production before J Littles brings a more reflective edge to ‘How Can I’. Ty The Healer takes centre stage on the groove driven ‘Mr Fix It’, while Vigilante and Ruth Discua combine on the soulful ‘Soul Signal’. ‘Forget Me Not Never’ pairs Castro Bey with Livi Louise for one of the record’s smoother moments, before Rukus returns for an acoustic reworking of ‘Cooking’ that gives the track an entirely different character.
One of the album’s biggest collaborative moments comes with ‘Chain’, bringing Lex Nay Loco, Ty The Healer, Vigilante and J Littles together over BFG’s production. Closing things out, Circa91 flips ‘Soul Signal’ into D&B territory, injecting the original with fresh energy and underlining the versatility running throughout the project.
With A Stroke of Luck, BFG has created a record that feels rooted in collaboration, giving each featured artist space to bring their own personality while keeping his production firmly at the heart of the album.
BFG sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
Music started for me like a lot of people I know on a Sunday morning, helping mum to clean the flat which was a staple for most Caribbean households where I grew up in East London, but I guess my personal journey started with hearing the likes of Big Daddy Kane, Nas and Public Enemy on the cassette tape passed around school and the rule was you had 2 day’s max to listen and copy that tape before it was returned and passed on to the next person.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
I am a fan of people like J Dilla, Busta Rhymes and I guess from the UK, artists like klashnekoff, both of us coming out of East London I understood the message as it was very relatable.
3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
The next project is in the pipeline and will be a follow up to the Stroke of Luck on ward 410 project which out on all streaming platforms now. The new project will be out the back end of 2026 or early 2027.
4. How would you describe your sound?
I would say my sound is mixed as I don’t want everything to sound the same.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
After suffering a near death experience after having a major stroke in 2023, just getting to the point of having a release out, I’m very proud of and I must say with all the issues the stoke gave me, I have had a lot of help getting this project together and I’m blessed to have the support of my wife and wider family members and a small friend unit that came together to support me.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
My advice is to do it for love not money, the love will keep you whole and if money comes, great.
7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?
Look out for Castro Bey coming out of Derby, very talented person. J Littles from Nottingham, his latest album Found is out now…

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
Nothing original lol, I like movies and watch what I can. Just trying to maintain my health and well being.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
These days it’s glasses and a Fanta, but no ice, lol, that’s it.
