GESELLE - You Don’t Know Me Yet (Single)

London based R&B artist GESELLE puts identity and heritage front and centre on her new single ‘You Don’t Know Me Yet’, out now. Born in the UK and raised in Italy, she moves seamlessly between English and Italian across a silky blend of R&B, neo soul, hip hop and contemporary jazz.

Built around a warm bassline and effortlessly smooth groove, the track feels like an introduction to GESELLE’s world, celebrating the experiences and places that have shaped her. References to growing up surrounded by the Dolomites in the small Italian town of Feltre sit alongside a wider message about being proud of where you come from and refusing to let other people define your story.

Speaking about the track, GESELLE explains: “I always thought rappers often have songs where they talk about where they come from and how that impacted their lives, and I wanted to replicate that in my own way. I wanted to write a song that could introduce myself to the listener and bring them into my world.”

Created alongside producer Eliade and partly inspired by the bass driven sensuality of ELIZA’s ‘Wasn’t Looking’, ‘You Don’t Know Me Yet’ has a playful, intimate quality that gives GESELLE plenty of room to experiment with her voice. A former rhythmic gymnast and dancer, her natural connection to movement and rhythm also comes through in the track’s fluid feel.

The single marks the first in a run of new releases from GESELLE as she continues to carve out her own space within the UK’s emerging R&B landscape.
