Jae Stephens - I Miss The City / Gymnastics (Double Single)
Jae Stephens continues the build towards her debut album AUDACITY with two contrasting new singles, ‘I Miss The City’ and ‘Gymnastics’, out now via Def Jam Recordings.
Produced by MNEK, ‘I Miss The City’ finds Stephens embracing a dreamier and more introspective side, pairing sparse, ethereal pop production with lyrics centred around boredom, freedom and a longing for the spontaneity of city life. ‘Gymnastics’, produced by Dallas Caton, flips the mood completely, with Stephens confidently dodging a casual romance that threatens to become something more serious. Together, the tracks showcase the duality at the heart of her forthcoming record, moving between vulnerability and unapologetic independence without compromising either.
The singles follow ‘Sugar Trap’ and ‘Attaboy!’ and offer another glimpse into AUDACITY, which arrives September 25. The 11 track album unfolds within Stephens’ fictional world of Auda City, created alongside Creative Director Cass Meyers, blending pop and R&B while exploring femininity, autonomy, ambition and self expression.
Following her recent Lollapalooza appearance, Stephens will also join Khalid on the European leg of his It’s Always Summer Somewhere tour this October. With AUDACITY just weeks away, ‘I Miss The City’ and ‘Gymnastics’ underline an artist increasingly comfortable defining pop on her own terms.
