Erick the Architect has shared captivating new visuals for his recent single “No Doubt (I’m In Love)”, released via Mass Appeal, taking the Flatbush Zombies founding member and producer back to his Jamaican roots.
Filmed in Jamaica for the first time in Erick’s career, the visual acts as a love letter to the island and deliberately moves away from familiar tourist imagery. Instead, Erick captures the communities, yeng yeng bikes, mesh marinas and everyday energy of Kingston, presenting love in a much wider sense than romance. Accompanying the video is a personal essay and collection of photographs reflecting on the relationships he built during the trip and how the experience deepened his connection to his heritage.
“I did not want Jamaica to become texture for my work while the people living there received nothing from the exchange,” Erick explains.
Produced by Yeti Beats and Latin Grammy Producer of the Year Federico Vindver, “No Doubt (I’m In Love)” samples Jennifer Lara’s early 80s Studio One cut “I Am in Love”, giving the track a warm, disco leaning feel while maintaining its Jamaican connection.
The release continues another busy period for Erick, following collaborations and performances alongside the likes of Nas, Busta Rhymes and Jamiroquai. It also builds on the momentum of his acclaimed 2024 debut solo album I’ve Never Been Here Before, which saw the Brooklyn artist expand beyond his Flatbush Zombies foundations with a genre fluid mix of hip hop, soul, dub and psychedelia.
With “No Doubt (I’m In Love)”, Erick once again shows the breadth of his creative vision, pairing an infectious record with a visual that feels personal, celebratory and deeply connected to where he comes from.
