Masia One @ Rototom Sunsplash Musical Festival Spain (21.08.26)

Singapore’s “Far East Empress” Masia One is taking Southeast Asian sound system culture to one of its biggest international stages, with two performances lined up at Rototom Sunsplash in Benicàssim, Spain. On August 21, she hits the Dancehall Stage for a solo set alongside King Addies and Lady Leshurr, before joining Indonesian soundsystem Yella Sky Sound at the Dub Academy on August 22.

The appearances represent a major moment for an artist who has spent more than a decade helping build reggae and dub culture across Southeast Asia through Singapura Dubclub. Masia’s connection with Yella Sky Sound stretches back to 2015, making their Rototom link up a fitting celebration of the scene they have helped develop across the region.

Alongside her festival appearances, Masia represents Singapore on new global collaboration “Neighbourhood”, joining New Zealand artist Emma Dilemma, Auckland producer Dende the Sensei and St. Louis artist Jay Coast. Out now, the track brings together voices from four cities across three continents, with Masia delivering an unfiltered snapshot of life beyond Singapore’s polished CBD. Drawing on local slang, characters and everyday sights, her verse captures what she describes as the “nitty gritty kampong baru vibes” of the Lion City.

Together, “Neighbourhood” and her Rototom appearances mark another international step for Masia One, placing her Southeast Asian roots firmly at the centre of her sound rather than smoothing them out for a global audience.
