Ras Ceylon - Scrollz of Lion Rock (Album)

Oakland MC Ras Ceylon has always occupied a unique space in hip hop. Widely recognised as the first Sri Lankan rapper to emerge within the Western hip hop landscape, he's spent more than two decades blending sharp lyricism, West Coast independence, reggae influences and socially conscious storytelling into a distinctive global voice.

His upcoming ninth studio album, Scrollz of Lion Rock, continues that journey. The project builds on the momentum of his acclaimed 2024 collaboration Jacket Fulla Medalz with Wu-Tang affiliate Timbo King, expanding that creative partnership into his most ambitious body of work to date.

The album features an impressive cast from the extended Wu-Tang family, including Cappadonna, Prodigal Sunn, 9th Prince and Solomon Childs, alongside respected lyricists Ras Kass and Planet Asia. Rather than serving as standalone guest appearances, these collaborations reinforce the album's shared themes of lyrical excellence, resistance and cultural awareness.

Executive produced by Oliver "Power" Grant with A&R direction from Matthew "M80" Markoff, Scrollz of Lion Rock is rooted in classic boom-bap while tackling contemporary issues through tracks such as "DisInfoAge", "Free The World" and "Ancestorz". Inspired by Sri Lanka's ancient Sigiriya (Lion Rock), the album draws on themes of heritage, resilience and ancestral knowledge, connecting history with the present day.

Production comes from DJ Allah Mathematics, best known as the creator of the iconic Wu-Tang "W" logo, alongside Cruise, Dawit Justice and AkaFrank, delivering a raw, authentic soundtrack that complements Ras Ceylon's message driven approach.

Scrollz of Lion Rock looks set to be another significant chapter in Ras Ceylon's catalogue, reinforcing his place within independent hip hop while continuing to bridge cultures, generations and traditions through uncompromising lyricism.
