The Allergies ft: Andy Cooper & BlabberMouf - Dig It Up (Official Video)
The Allergies Go Back to Boom Bap Roots with “Dig It Up”.
Brighton duo The Allergies are rewinding the clock in the best way possible. Their new single “Dig It Up” (out today via Jalapeno Records) is a gritty, no frills return to classic boom bap, built on hard hitting drums and a rumbling live double bassline.
This one’s all about bars. Andy Cooper and BlabberMouf go toe to toe in a proper pass the mic sparring session, trading sharp, punchy verses over a backbone laid down by Sneaky of Fingathing. The result feels like a love letter to Golden Era hip hop, think the raw energy of Cypress Hill with that unmistakable ‘90s grit.
The Allergies have always flirted with funk, soul and party starting breaks, but here they strip it right back. No gloss, no gimmicks, just beats, bass and bars. It’s deliberate, and it hits hard.
The video leans fully into that intensity. Directed by Maculate, it’s a chaotic, monster movie inspired trip with radioactive goo, giant rampaging MCs, and a healthy dose of vintage sci fi destruction. Think Godzilla meets King Kong but with turntables and battle rap energy dialled up to eleven.
Beyond this release, The Allergies are riding serious momentum. Support from BBC Radio 6 Music continues to build, and their track “God Walked Down” recently landed in the cult TV hit Severance, a placement that’s introduced their sound to a whole new audience.
With a new album on the horizon later this year, “Dig It Up” feels like both a nod to where they started and a reminder they’ve still got plenty of firepower left.
