April + VISTA are entering a defining moment with the announcement of their debut album Traditional Noise, arriving April 22 via Third and Hayden. The news lands alongside their new single “Standing in Place,” which feels less like a preview and more like a statement of intent.

Following earlier releases “Bless My Heart,” “Love Unspent,” and “Grotto,” the track captures their blend of soul, alt pop, rock, electronic, and R&B with a sharper sense of purpose. It reflects a band fully settled into its experimental instincts while still pushing forward.

The duo describe the song as an acceptance of disorder and growth, a farewell to past versions of themselves as they move into something new. That tension between uncertainty and progress runs through the track.

Since forming in Washington, D.C. in 2014, April + VISTA have built their sound through constant evolution. Their 2018 project You Are Here brought early recognition, including a COLORS session and support from BBC Radio 1Xtra and The FADER. Tours with Little Dragon, Mura Masa, and Little Simz, along with their collaborative EP Slipping Into Color, have further shaped their path.

Their process remains deeply hands on. April composes her own string arrangements as a self taught violist, while VISTA builds the production through textured guitar, live drums, and layered sound design. The focus is on risk and emotional honesty over polish.

Traditional Noise arrives as both a debut and a reflection of that journey, capturing their growth while pointing toward what comes next.
