Kroi Link Up with Incognito’s Bluey on Groove Driven New Single “Kinetic”.
Tokyo outfit Kroi return with “Kinetic feat. INCOGNITO,” a cross generational collaboration that feels as natural as it does overdue. Released via Pony Canyon and IRORI Records, the track sees the five piece band join forces with Bluey, the driving force behind UK jazz funk pioneers Incognito, blending their shared musical DNA into something immediate and alive.
The connection traces back to Kroi’s appearance at The Great Escape in Brighton in 2025. Looking to work with a UK based producer, the band landed on a name that had long been part of their collective influences. What followed was a session at Bluey’s Colibri Sound Recorders that leaned into spontaneity over precision. The result is “Kinetic,” a groove first track elevated by Incognito’s unmistakable horn arrangements, built around the energy of the room rather than rigid structure.
It is a meeting point of eras and styles, but not a nostalgic one. Instead, “Kinetic” thrives on momentum, capturing the spirit of collaboration between artists who speak the same musical language, even if they come from different generations and continents.
Visually, the release is paired with a music video directed by Takuto Shimpo, drawing on vivid, 90s inspired colour palettes and optical illusion effects that mirror the track’s restless motion.
For Kroi, the release marks another step in an already expansive trajectory. Since forming in 2018, the band have carved out a genre blurring identity, pulling from R&B, funk, soul, rock and hip hop, while steadily growing their international presence through touring and high profile anime tie ins. Their evolution now feels increasingly global, and “Kinetic” is a clear signal of that direction.
With a new Japan tour, Kroi Live Tour 2026 “JUNGLE”, set to kick off in August across major Zepp venues, the band continue to build on that momentum, this time with a collaboration that bridges scenes, cities and decades.
