A Class Sessions x Wordplay @ BOXPARK

On Thursday 29th January we collaborated with A Class Sessions for the first time. Marked as the first event the year for us and boy was in electric. Held at the BOXPARK in Shoreditch and if you weren’t there, you deffo missed out.

The beginning segment was an open mic hosted my Teeqs and LV General. Both gave immense energy throughout the night encouraged the audience to chant and get involved. I loved how they made the artists feel welcome and made sure they gave the audience their socials. All the open mic acts were sensational I was partiuarly impressed with Idyll whose beats didn’t work due to a USB malfuction. He decided to do an a cappella and shelled it. The audience went absoultely mental as he flowed through his bars with ease. Before the headline acts was Rue Lansky, Tavi, La Swave and Chef Grizzy and sk. Chef Grizzy had this quiet unassuming nature with this low deep voice which carried through his tracks. He commanded the stage and it was clear that he had fans, I could here them around me joining in. sk. was cool calm and collected he made it look so easy up there with his switching flows and storytelling. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to see all the supporting acts as we had to step out to film Griminal’s Interview which you can watch here.

Griminal shut the house down he tried to perform his first track and once the full beat kicked in. Everyone lost it and the DJ kept wheeling it back because we were not ready at all. Near the end of his set he invited his entourage of mandem on the stage and it turned into a Grime freestyle moshpit. It was INSANE, his entire set made you feel like a shot of adrenaline pulsating throughout your body.

Griminal dropped his track LINCOLN (MEGAMIX) the day after the A Class collaboration event. Which he mentions in his interview, along with an explosive music video which you can watch below.

A Class Sessions offers a great platform for MCs and Singers to showcase their talent in front of a receptive audience. Supporting independent artists giving them the opportunity to be on the bill with established artists. An opportunity that they might not have had access to without a label or booking agent. After seeing the event where the founder Iyah had put in and unbelievable amount of much work. We think that A Class Sessions is special something for the culture by the culture. We would absolutely recommend going to any of their shows in future. Events like these are special and we want to keep them and watch them grow so if you are a music lover or artist please support. Share their events, invite your friends, be brave and get on that stage and show people what you got.
