GENA - the duo of LA based vocalist Liv.e and Detroit drummer Karriem Riggins have kicked off their year in style by sharing new single, Lead It Up.  Check out the Cam Hicks directed video below.

Lead It Up is the latest offering from GENA's forthcoming debut album, The Pleasure Is Yours, out 27th February on Lex Records.  The Pleasure Is Yours finds Liv.e agile vocals weaving deftly through Riggins' warm, percussive soundscapes, spirited and fun loving, the record is included in recent previews of 2026's most anticipated releases by Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan and Stereogum.

GENA's debut UK show at the ICA in London on 30th January is now sold out.

Ostensibly an odd couple, Liv.e (pronounced "liv") and Riggins quickly recognised each other as kindred musical spirits soon after meeting.  Having performed a series of low key shows together last year under the mysterious moniker GENA, short for God Energy, Naturally Amazing, the pair are now ready to step in to the spotlight.

Liv.e is an artist who thrives on experimentation, from her acclaimed solo debut Couldn’t Wait To Tell You… to 2023’s breakout Girl In The Half Pearl.  She supported Earl Sweatshirt on tour in November and December and her other previous collaborators include MIKE, Venna and Pink Siifu.  Karriem Riggins is simply one of the most respected drummers and beatmakers in contemporary music, having collaborated with Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Madlib, Paul McCartney, Norah Jones, and forged a lasting kinship with the late, great J Dilla.
