Lucy Liebe ft: Aka Kelzz - We Do (Single)
'We Do' is the second single from Lucy Liebe's debut album Deadline Season and features Birmingham-born, Berlin-based singer Aka Kelzz.
Lucy Liebe is a trans*femme multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer based in Berlin. You might know Lucy as a founding member of Bokoya or seen her live with douniah or Gianni Brezzo. Lucy plays drums, keys, flute, trumpet, guitar, bass, and sings. After working in the areas of jazz and beat music for a long time, she reinterprets these influences through a queer lens and thus creates a unique inner tension. Artistically versatile, the focus of her output can be best described as alternative R&B, in which she talks about topics like queerness, transness*, home, trauma, and love. Deadline Season is Lucy Liebe's first solo album and features Aka Kelzz, Coco Elane, garrrog, Giaa, Laíz, Pachakuti and Rosa Landers.
Aka Kelzz is a vocalist, songwriter, and creative force crafting genre blending soundscapes rooted in alternative R&B, soul, house, and spoken word. As a queer, non-binary artist, Kelzz uses their music as a space for liberation, vulnerability, and radical self-expression, centring Black and queer narratives often sidelined in mainstream spaces.
Aka Kelzz: "'We Do' is about the discomfort of sharing our feelings. Hiding our pain so it doesn’t burden others, while it slowly burdens us. We think we’re stuck in circles, not changing, but we’re becoming something new, and that’s what hurts. So I keep choosing connection with myself and with others because without it – what’s the point?”
Deadline Season is out now on vinyl and Bandcamp. Digital platforms follow on March 27th.
