Ego Ella May - What You Waiting For (Single)

Award winning British Nigerian singer songwriter Ego Ella May has announced her long awaited sophomore album Good Intentions, set for release on 20th March. The record follows her critically acclaimed 2020 debut Honey For Wounds and marks her most daring and expansive body of work to date.

Blending warm jazz textures with alt soul, intricate harmonies and deeply personal storytelling, Good Intentions captures a new chapter of creative confidence and self belief. The latest single, What You Waiting For, is out now, a playful broken beat groove co produced with Tom Excell that doubles as a call to live fully in the present. As Ego puts it, it is an anthem for choosing now over waiting.

Self produced alongside collaborators including Alfa Mist, Beat Butcha and Wu Lu, the album explores themes of community, liberation, vulnerability and everyday beauty, with inspiration drawn from writers such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Joan Didion.

To celebrate the release, Ego Ella May will perform a run of intimate in store acoustic shows at Rough Trade locations across the UK, with access via pre order of exclusive signed formats.
