Geo Baddoo Finds Her ‘Silver Lining’.
London-based soul-R&B artist and producer Geo Baddoo returns on 12 September with ‘Silver Lining’, her first true love song and a gorgeous nod to the golden age of Lovers Rock.
Following on from the playful ‘Look At Me’ and the empowering ‘My Turn’—both of which earned praise from BBC 1Xtra, COLORS, VIBE Magazine, BBC Introducing and Live Nation’s Ones To Watch—Geo shifts gears here, embracing tenderness over drama and offering a hopeful take on modern love.
Co-written and produced with Grammy-nominated Steve Marshall (Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, George Clinton, Keith Richards), ‘Silver Lining’ blends soulful vocals and rich harmonies with groove-laden percussion, shimmering synths, and even archival conga recordings from the late Reuben ‘Sleepy’ White. At its heart is the refrain “I’m ready”—a confession and a commitment, sung with warmth and conviction.
Geo explains: “This is the first love song I’ve released, showing another side of me. So often we see relationships framed through drama or toxicity, but I wanted to flip that with something honest and hopeful. The song is about a love that’s only possible when you’re grounded in self-love, when you know yourself and what you need.”
Raised in Somerset before moving to London, Geo has steadily built a reputation as one of the most authentic new voices in British soul. Her influences span from Mary J. Blige to Tracy Chapman, while her collaborations include veterans like Alan Weekes and Michael ‘Bammi’ Rose. Performances at Union Chapel, King Tut’s, and Ancienne Belgique, plus a support slot with The Teskey Brothers, have only cemented her growing presence.
With ‘Silver Lining’, Geo Baddoo offers a love song for late-night spins, slow dances, and anyone ready to believe in something steady again.
