Sam Wills - Voicenotes (Single)

Sam Wills Unveils New Single “Voicenotes” Ahead of Sophomore Album “Speak”.

Hastings singer, songwriter and musician Sam Wills has released his new single Voicenotes, lifted from his forthcoming album Speak, due 3rd October. The record also features previous singles Amelia, Coulda Been Us and We Both Know.

Known for his lush harmonies and finely crafted production, Wills’ second album plays out as a narrative of love, loss and renewal. “Voicenotes” sits near the end of that journey, capturing the bittersweet ache of revisiting old memories after a relationship ends. Written with long-time collaborator Phairo, its tender melody nods to the timeless quality of jazz standards, while remaining rooted in the here and now.

Reflecting on the song, Wills explains: “Voicenotes is about missing someone you’ve parted ways with, lying awake at night lit by the blue light of a phone listening to old voice messages from them.”

Created in the woodland cabin he built during his debut, Speak sees Wills weave together influences from jazz, hip hop, R&B and folk, channelling artists like Dijon, Mk.gee and Frank Ocean. It follows his 2021 debut Breathe, which amassed over 450 million streams and included viral hit Traingazing.

With previous support from BBC Radio, Elton John and Complex, plus collaborations with the likes of Jorja Smith, Disclosure and Lucky Daye, Sam Wills is continuing to carve out a distinctive place in modern soul and beyond.
