South East London’s Stacy NKR has teamed up with rising producer oakland for a striking 6-track collaboration, smooth fm. Centred around conversations on modern relationships, the project dives into themes of self-worth, temptation and the blurred lines of situationships.

Having teased the release with singles cosmetic and your eyes, the EP expands on their chemistry with cuts like love is real – a soulful statement of empowerment – and relapse, which wrestles with the pull of past connections. Closing track goodnight highlights oakland’s atmospheric production, perfectly framing Stacy’s razor-sharp delivery.

For Stacy, born Anastasia Nkrumah in Kennington, music has always been tied to community and identity. From stairwell cyphers in her teens to her 2022 breakout SE17, she’s steadily carved her own lane in UK rap, with nods from BBC 1Xtra and residencies at Balamii. Oakland, meanwhile, has built a reputation as a boundary-pushing producer, earning co-signs from the likes of Benji B, COLORS and Giggs, while shaping the sound of the emerging “Mellow Grime” movement.
