JayaHadADream drops buoyant new single ‘Bug’ and announces debut mixtape.
Cambridge-born rapper JayaHadADream continues her faultless run of 2025 releases with ‘Bug’, a jazzy, lo-fi cut produced by UK heavyweight New Machine. Blending bright sax lines and staccato guitar plucks with Jaya’s sharp, conversational flow, the track is a slick yet grounded anthem about knowing your worth, deflecting doubters and moving calm through the noise.
The single arrives with big news: Jaya’s debut full-length project Happiness From Agony lands 24th October. Spanning 11 tracks, the mixtape promises a candid reflection on the contradictions of rising success, drawing across hip-hop, grime, garage and beyond.
Already hailed as one of UK rap’s most compelling new voices, Jaya’s journey has been anything but ordinary – from teaching A-Level Criminology to winning Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition and tearing down stages at Reading, Leeds, and Boomtown. With nods from Stormzy, Ghetts, Chip, and even Mick Jenkins, her cross-genre appeal is undeniable.
Following a string of standout singles – including ‘Nothing’s Changed’, ‘The Bank’ and ‘Main Characters’ ft. Big Zuu – ‘Bug’ offers fans both old and new a vibrant glimpse of what’s to come. On this form, JayaHadADream is firmly set to lead UK rap’s next wave.
